Taste of Marietta, the Marietta Visitors Bureau’s largest annual fundraiser, brought together over 70 Cobb Country restaurants, caterers, and food trucks to sample their tastiest dishes this past Sunday. With beautiful, sunny weather all day, record breaking crowds gathered on the Marietta Square for the event, now in its 23rd year.

In addition to the delectable bites, all day activities included a kid’s ally, featuring face painting, sand art, and bounce houses, the Marietta Fire Department touch-a-truck, and live music from two stages.

A favorite activity among the participating restaurants was the Food Judging Competition. Over 40 participating restaurants opted to compete in the annual Awards of Distinction.  Categories included: Best Seafood Dish, Best International Cuisine, Dangerously Delicious Dessert, Best Comfort Food, Finger Lickin’ Good, The Big Chicken, Tastiest Beverage, Most Unique, and Blazin’ BBQ. The judges sampled over 70 dishes, ranging from specialty tacos to crepes to bubble tea, and from each of the nine categories, chose an overall “Tastiest Taste” winner.  This year’s overall winning dish was awarded to The Freakin Incan Food Truck’s Ceviche de Pescado, a dish they sold out of on Sunday.

The 2016 panel of judges included: Michelle Cooper Kelly, Marietta City Councilwomen (Ward 6); Chris Hardman, Georgia Restaurant Association; Elizabeth Cossick, Little Black Dress/Little Red Wagon Magazine; Kyle Hood, City Manager of Tyrone; and winner of the Earl Smith Strand Theatre live auction, Pete Olsen.
